some facts/daži fakti

Well as my student didn't show up, I have time for a coffe, pastry and quick entry in my blog:) It's normal here that people don't show up or are extremly late and it's fine - just need some getting used to. Like me today - I had to get up 7 o'clock just for him and...well at least I will have a long day.
This week I wanted to start to swimm again, but to get in to a pool was not that easy - Monday I had to see a physischian do some paper work and today I will go and hopefully get my membership card, so I can start in May:)
Yesterday we all went to a Macromarket to by food for everyone so it cheeper, because here the living expenses are not as cheep as we thought, no, no! They have an 70% import tax on goods and that changes a lot - and the locals are not stupid they sell their goods at almost the same price as the imported goods - and why shouldn't they! This is also the reason why there are still so many retro cars here - which for me are definetly eyecandy:)
And yes - I start to feel the winter approaching, its getting chilly - trying to find some Uruguayan wool to nit a proper sweater - wishful thinking, it seems that they produce wool only for export and the wool you can buy seems a little over priced.
Don't get me wrong - not a single complain in this whole text, just facts! If I wanted to live like home, I would go home:)
Tā kā mans skolnieks neieradās uz nodarbību, man ir laiks kafijai, bulciņai un ierakstam emuārā :) Te tas ir tikai normāli, ka kāds neierodas vai kavē, vienkārši jāsāk pierast. Šodien cēlos 7 no rīta tikai šai vienai personai un.., nu nekas, vismaz man diena garāka:)
Gribēju atsākt peldēšanu, aizgāju uz baseinu, bet tik vienkārši tas nav! Pirmdien aizsūtīja pie daktera, tad aizpildīju pāris papīrus un šodien cerams saņemšu savu ieejas karti, lai maijā varētu plunčāties:)
Vakar ar lielām somām devāmies uz vairumtirdzniecības veikalu, lai ietaupītu uz pārtiku, jo izrādās te ikdienas izmaksas ir augstākas, nekā bijām domājuši. Urugvajā ir 70% importa nodoklis un tas maina daudz ko - vietējais ražotājs jau ar nav mazais bērns un pārdod savu preci gandrīz par importa cenām, un kāpēc gan ne! Tas arī ir iemesls, kāpēc vēl joprojām redzamas tik daudz retro mašīnas, kas katrā ziņā priecē manas acis ik dienas:)
Un jā - sāku just ziemu tuvojamies, paliek vēsāks! Mēģināju atrast kārtīgu Urugvajas vilnu, lai nomargotu džemperīti, bet nu sagribējās cūkai apelsīni! Šķiet vilnu ražo tikai eksportam un tā, kas ir dabonama man liekas ir nedaudz padārga.
Tik nepārprotiet, es nesūdzos, bet uzskaitu faktus! Ja gribētu dzīvot kā mājas, tad brauktu mājās:)

Tamburos/Urugvajas bungas

Starting to learn here something! Saturday we had a Tamburos workshop, where we learned to make drums out of Mate, leather and also empty paint buckets ant plastic – fun, fun, and had a little drum session at the end. I say - Saturday well spent!
Evening unexpectedly brought tickets to the symphonic orchestra again, this was a better concert than last week - lucky me:)

Afterwards we head out for some drinks, met some locals who did know where is Latvia and had no problems to name the capital and even turned out, that they had been there - I like it better and better here:)

Just...if only they started to party a bit earlier, by the time they are ready to dance, I'm ready to hit my bed..:( at 2 o'clock in the morning, they said - it's too early to dance...hmm I don't think so:)

Beidzot sāku kaut ko apgūt! Sestdien bijām taisīt Tamburos, jeb bungas no Mates - tāds kā ķirbītis, bet izžuvis iegūst koksnei līdzīgu struktūru, no ādas un arī no tukšiem krāsas spaiņiem un plastmasas plēves- jautriņi, jautriņi, un pat beigās uzbungojām kopā. Es teikšu - labi pavadīta sestdiena:)
Vakarā negaidīti dabūju iedāvinātas simfoniskā orķepestera biļetes, šis koncerts bija labāks par izgājušās nedēļas priekšnesumu, prieks kur tu rodies!
Pēc tam pa glāzītei bārā tepat ap stūri, kur iepazināmies ar bariņu vietējo. Šie ne tikai zināja, kur ir Latvija, bet bez problēmām nosauca galvaspilsētu un beigās pat izrādījās esot bijuši Rīgā! Man šeit patīk ar vien labāk:)
Tik...ja vien viņi varētu sākt tusēt nedaudz ātrāk, kas šeit sākas ballīte, man jau velk uz čučumuižu! 2 no rīta vēl esot par agru dejot, eee, es nepiekritīšu:)

slow internet

A week has passed and you would think it's about time to post some pictures...couldn't agree more, but my internet connection home is uber slow. Now I'm at work - it takes a while tu upload something, but..So, yes, I do work, 2 days already! I have a English conversation class 3x a week, 2x a week I will teach German and 2 days I will work in a day care, with adorable 1-3 year old kids :)
I did go out this weekend, started with a symphonic orchestra concert - very nice, in Montevideo’s new concert hall - big, bright and nice acoustics. Than we had a drink while our Italian friends made us dinner. Had dinner, vine and headed to the town. Night life here starts after midnight and people are still dancing at 6, 7 o'clock in the morning. We went on our own, Travis(USA), Marta(Poland) and me - it was good, we shacked our bodies like just don't care:), but yesterday we met the rest of the people volunteering for our organization and this weekend they gonna show us what's actually going on here:)
Nu jau pagājusi nedēļa un būtu tā kā laiks jums parādīt kādu bildi, bet nu man mājā internets tik lēns, tik lēns! Tagad esmu darbā, ir nedaudz labāk, bet...Jep, es strādāju, nu jau kā 2 dienas. Tātad 3x nedēļā man ir angļu valoda, 2x ned. pasniegšu vācu val. un 2 dienas ņemšos pa bērnudārzu ar 1-3 gadīgajiem:)
Nedēļas nogalē bijām patusēt. Sākām ar simfoniskā orķestra koncertu - jauki, Montevideo jaunajā koncertzālē, plaša, gaiša un labu akustiku. Kamēr mūsu itāļu draugi gatavoja mums vakariņas, ieskrējām iedzert pa glāzītei un pēc vakariņām patusēt pilsētā! Te nakts dzīve sākas pēc pusnakts un 6, 7 no rīta vēl cilvēki dejo:)Šoreiz bijām tik mēs paši Travis (ASV), Marta (Polija) un es, izvingrinājām feini savus gurnus latīņu ritmos:) Vakar satikām pārējos mūsu organizācijas brīvprātīgos (vietējos) un šie solījās šonedēļ izrādīt, kas ta te notiek, ko ta te darīt un kur ta te iet:)

Pirmā bildē esam mēs brīvprātīgie, daži vēl ir iesprūdui Eiropas lidostās:( Tad redzama man māja un pēdējā bildē pastaiga pa prominādi ar Martu un manu istabas biedreni Frederiku (ar drediem)

2nd day in Uruguay

OK, this is my first attempt to write down things that I do, let’s see how that goes :)

I’m finally here, Montevideo, Uruguay, South America – after almost a year of waiting. So far so good – I was received with pouring rain and stormy winds, but today is sunny and so am I

I’m here to be a volunteer – work with kids, teach some languages but that’s about all I know right now.

First impressions – I like it here:). The house I live in is old and in reconstruction, so high ceilings, old wooden furniture and floors with coloured tiles.

I did go for a small walk today, I do like the flair of the city so far, but I wouldn’t say it’s really beautiful - Rio de la Plata was extra muddy and brown today – you don’t want to dip any body part in there:)

Labiņi, šis ir pirmais mēģinājums pierakstīt manas ikdienas gaitas, nez nez kā nu būs:)

Beidzot esmu Montevideo, Urugvajā, Dienvidamerikā - pēc gandrīz gadu ilgas gaidīšanas. Pagaidām ir labi - mani gan sagaidīja ar kārtīgu lietus dušu un vēju, kas norauj jumtu - tiešajā nozīmē, bet šī diena ir saulaina un es ar:)

Esmu šeit kā brīvprātīgais - strādāšu ar bērniem, mācīšu valodas, bet tas arī viss ko pagaidām zinu.

Pirmais iespaids - man patīk:) Māja, kur dzīvoju ir veca un tiek remontēta, man ir augsti griesti, vecas koka mēbeles un grīdas no krāsainām flīzītēm.

Biju arī mazā pastaigā - patīk pilsētas atmosfēriņa, bet nevarētu teikt, ka pilsēta ir skaista. Rio de la Plata - upe , kas ieskaij Monetvideo, šodien ir īpaši dubļaina un brūna - tāīsti negribētos tur iemērkt nevienu ķermeņa vietu:)
